There are various possibilities to park your car cheaply on the outskirts of Amsterdam. From there you can then easily travel to the city center by public transportation.

Rijksmuseum, is the largest and most important national museum of The Netherlands. It is situated between the Stadhouderskade en the Museumplein, in Amsterdam-Zuid. The best-kept secret from the polder! In the polder landscape southwest of Amsterdam is the 150 year old farm Clara Maria. Here you really imagine yourself back in time. In the original stable are now delicious Gouda cheeses and wooden clogs made according to traditional methods.
Above all Alkmaar is the cheese-town of Holland. During the season (from the first Friday in April up to and including the first Friday in September) a traditional cheese market is being held here on Friday morning from 10.00 o'clock till 12.30 o'clock . The cheeses are being sold by the merchants by means of clapping hands.

Because of the relationship between De Nieuwe Kerk and the Hermitage, created by the many contacts during the organization of major exhibitions, the director of De Nieuwe Kerk, Ernst Veen, came up with the idea for a branch of the Russian museum in Amsterdam, inspired by the 300-year-old historical link between the two cities.
Volendam, the beautiful fishing village at the Ijsselmeer, with its traditional costumes and dresses, as well as music and fish. Little houses in the labyrinth behind the harbor, souvenir shops, which are open seven days a week. Restaurants with a typical Volendam atmosphere, where an important part of the menu consists of fish. Coming right out of the water fresh into your tray.
At several places you can swim in the Amsterdamse Bos. For the little ones there are two children's pools. There is also an official swimming location in the Bos: the Grote Vijver has a separate swimming area.
On a beautiful spot, in the middle of the Amsterdamse Bos lies the goat farm Ridammerhoeve. Besides goats there are also chickens, pigs, cows and horses. Visitors are welcome to take a look!
Take a beautiful forest walk in the Amsterdamse Bos and eat delicious pancakes at Boerderij Meerzicht or just a quick meal in the lunch break of work. One thing is for sure, those two things just belong together; the beautiful nature and such a delicious pancake.
The islands in the Grote Vijver of the Amsterdamse Bos form an adventurous play forest for children. There is an exciting water play area and the islands are accessible with wobbly footbridges and a self-service ferry. There is also room to build cabins, have a picnic or lie in the sun.
Jump on a surfboard and move yourself with a paddle that will take you through the water on either side. Sup & Meer is a Stand Up Paddle Floating Club located on the Nieuwe Meer in the Amsterdamse Bos.
From mid-April to mid-October, two ferries sail over the Nieuwe Meervan and to the Amsterdamse Bos: Veerpont Nieuwe Meer ferry and bicycle and foot ferry 'Ome Piet'.
