Medemblik is a very popular place with tourists thanks to its location beside the IJsselmeer. The water offers action as well as relaxation. Watersports enthusiasts from around the world come to Medemblik to sail and (kite) surf.

The IJsselmeer is also ideal for a more relaxed day out, you can hire a boat at our holiday resort and explore the area from the water in a sloop, whisper boat, or motorboat. You can also hire a paddle board at Supcentre Enkhuizen or opt to lay down beside the water on the sandy beach.

What is there to do in the vicinity of EuroParcs IJsselmeer?
The Medemblik area has more to offer in addition to all the entertainment on the water. There are various cities close by where you can enjoy all kinds of fun activities.

Medemblik (1 km): Old houses, narrow streets and picturesque facades typify pretty Medemblik. This city takes you back in time but is by no means boring. Visit Radboud Castle, the late Gothic Bonifacius Church and Stadsbrouwerij Radboud brewery. Travelling with children? Then Funfestijn Medemblik is highly recommended. This indoor playground is around 1,000 m2 in size and is pirate-themed throughout.

Enkhuizen (13 km): The centre of Enkhuizen still exudes the ambience of the Golden Age and has many attractive classic buildings and fortifications. This makes it the ideal day out for history and culture enthusiasts. Enkhuizen is also home to the Zuiderzee Museum where you can learn all about the history of the IJsselmeer and the future of the area. Sprookjeswonderland amusement park is highly recommended for children!

Alkmaar (28 km): Alkmaar is of course the cheese centre of the Netherlands. The cheese market is certainly worth a visit during your holiday. In addition, the city has an appealing old centre bursting with wonderful shops, friendly cafes, terraces and restaurants.

Hoorn (14 km): Hoorn also has a beautiful and vibrant centre. The city boasts at least 300 classic buildings and has stunning canals. In addition, the city has a lovely harbour and you can also visit the city by boat. You can also take the steam tram from Medemblik to Hoorn.

"Fairy tales wonderland" is the one and only place for your young offspring to let the stories , which you're used to read to them before they're going to sleep, become a reality. Meet the "Booted Cat" or "Snow-white and the mean witch" . Enjoy the train ride through the park, the animals who live there (among other things goats and rabbits) or the pancake-house.

Above all Alkmaar is the cheese-town of Holland. During the season (from the first Friday in April up to and including the first Friday in September) a traditional cheese market is being held here on Friday morning from 10.00 o'clock till 12.30 o'clock . The cheeses are being sold by the merchants by means of clapping hands.

Every year between March and September there is a cheese market every Friday at the Waagplein in Alkmaar with a special spectacle of carrying cheese carriers.

The most welcoming public golf course in North Holland offers challenging holes, many water features and a lot of differences in height. Beginners can hire a beginner’s set and practice to their heart’s content. Experienced golfers can buy a green fee ticket and tee off.
