in Lochem, in the east of the Netherlands, is surrounded by castles. In the vicinity of the resort, you can explore no less than eight castles by bike: Hackfort, Den Bramel, De Wildenborch, De Wiersse, Het Onstein, De Kieftkamp, Vorden and Suideras. Combine these visits with climbing Lochemse Berg (49.2 m), a river cruise along the Berkel and beautiful views of the scenic landscape, with its woods, agricultural areas and wooded banks.
If you like urban environments, there are a lot of towns and cities to visit in this part of Gelderland. Lochem and, a little further away, Doetinchem are ideal for a day of shopping, cosy and home to countless stores. A visit to the theatre in Lochem and the Public Transport and Toy Museum in Doetinchem is also a must! The historical cities of Deventer and Zutphen, and the more modernApeldoorn are also close to Lochem. Deventer and Zutphen are known for their enjoyable city centre. Deventer is home to the oldest stone house, the oldest pedestrian park and the Athenaeum Library, as well as the first scientific library in the Netherlands. Zutphen is known for its walls and ramparts, which date back to the Middle Ages.
On the road for some family fun The kids might be curious to see all of that, but they are surely more interested in other attractions, like Apenheul, which is only about 30 km from the resort, and the famousBurgers’ Zoo in Arnhem. The Julianatoren children’s amusement park in Apeldoorn and adventure park Hellendoorn, with more than 30 attractions and shows, are guaranteed to make everyone smile, including mum and dad! They are both just a 30-minute drive away. In the evening we recommend a visit to the cinema in Zutphen. Cinemajestic offers you 3D HFR films and 360° surround sound, giving you the impression you have stepped into the film you’re watching.
Achterhoek If you’re looking for leisure, Achterhoek has a lot to offer too! A few examples are Klimbos Achterhoek, an adventure forest in Ruurlo, and the nearby De Heikamp pancake farm, adventure park Cactus Oase and Hof van Eckberge in Eibergen, with its 25,000 sq.m. of play and adventure areas, a (disco) bowling alley, 400-sq.m. laser-game jungle, a sensory area, challenging climbing equipment, aquariums with over 10,000 litres of salt water, ‘natural play areas’, wooden play areas and climbing equipment, a beach-volley pitch and boule pitches. Oh, and there’s a mini zoo too! Another must-see is Erve Brooks in Gerselaar, with its adventurous indoor and outdoor play area. There are even tree trunks you need to conquer to avoid getting your feet wet, and an air trampoline.

Adventure park "Hellendoorn" is a terrific (great) attraction park, which easily can stand a comparison with the "Efteling". There are more than 30 attractions and shows, among which the stunt shows of the world-famous Sky Pirates. Just come and see them if you dare!!
In the rolling landscape between Lochem and Barchem lie the Lochemse Berg and the Kale Berg. It definitely invites you to walk with or without a dog. The landscape is varied with robust coarse pine and beech trees and offers beautiful views.
The "Megapret" is the funniest family- playground in the "Achterhoek". In a rural environment, you'll find an indoor as well as an outdoor playground, which both are suitable for children from 0 up to and including 12 years old. Also for adults there's a lot to experience.
The "Waarbeek" in the town of Hengelo is a well-organized park for the young(er) kids. They are bound to excellently enjoy themselves a whole day long in the numerous attractions. And all this at an affordable (fixed) price.
Movie-house "De Keizer" is the place in Deventer where current films, premieres, classics, youth films and special programmes are shown to as wide an audience as possible.
Hunting to get a new track record with sweaty hands, or always forgetting that it's your turn to play because you're to busy chattering. Bowling centre "de Worp" in the town of Deventer has enough place for every (kind of) bowling player. Both competitive or recreative, above 65 or under 10.
